Catamaran Partnerships

Are Sailing Partnerships practical?  Here are some opinions from people who have tried it: "Boats and maintenance decisions are generally far to personal to share with someone. It might work if you were extremely easy going and just didn't care about most things and it would help if your partner was the same. Having a vote or argument every time a hole needed to be drilled would get old very quick. For these reasons it's really not very common at all." Here is a very rough sketch of a plan I have as an aspiring sailor. What's the plan?  Sail around the world in a Catamaran with partners, preferably another couple or two. Open to only 1 more couple (2-way sharing). And part time chartering. Flexible to arrangements. Approx 2-3 years in total. Why? Split the costs, divide and conquer the sailing, watches, maintenance, insurance, marina costs, labour, cleaning, repairs, depreciation, etc.  What about personal independence?  This will be likely TOP OF YOUR MIND. I have thought about this a lot and written a full post on this here. In short, if you can manage to find partners who are compatible, agree on a more or less similar itinerary, provide good company over long days and months, are entertaining and share fairly.
